Whisky is a funny thing. It is very hard to love -- some people never get past their first taste -- but once in love it is nearly impossible to let go. My wife is one of those people that is pretty confident she will never love Whisky. But, she is certainly going to love Amber!
The Macallan, one of the most storied names in Whisky, has created Amber. This is a very sweet drink that is a mix of Macallan Whisky, Maple Syrup, and pecans. The Whisky is very subtle and it is easy to be overwhelmed by the sweetness, but there is something very comforting about this drink.
Over a bunch of ice it is a nice evening sip. Likely good in place of other sweet liqueurs in mixed drinks (e.g., white Russian). Great over ice cream.
I will try and create some new drinks with it.
