Wasabi Vodka - no wasabi

I picked up a bottle of Wasabi Vodka (I can't find a link -- this is not the Hangar One Wasabi Vodka) at the liquor store this past weekend.

This Wasabi Vodka is a mixture of Dutch vodka (75%) and Japanese sake (25%). At least that is what the bottle says. The critical question to ask is "why?" It is pretty easy to take a premium vodka from the shelf and mix with some nice sake from the same shelf. But, this is the age of convenience.

I made a simple martini with this vodka and some ice and a shaker. Once it was chilling in the glass I just put a couple of drops of fresh lime juice on the top, sort of like I would do on shrimp cocktail.

The drink was pretty decent. The vodka is on the stronger side and the sake flavor is not nearly as rich and fruity as I would like, but for a fast drink from a single bottle it passes the test. I think adding a slice of pickled ginger or some cucumber is the way to go on a garnish for this one.
